Most curls found at the crown (especially if you have looser rizos or wavy hair) tend to dry flat at the scalp. It's a common problem that can leave your curl pattern looking pretty inconsistent. Luckily, there are ways to boost volume at the roots and prevent your curls from falling flat. Check out some of my tips below!

Use a diffuser: When it comes to adding lift to curls, I swear by a diffuser attachment. Now only does it add additional lift and volume to the crown of your hair, but it also helps reduce frizz and leaves curls more defined. Try the DevaCurl DevaFuser ($45).

Try a root booster: Try a curl enhancing product that's going to help amp up the volume and create definition, like Catwalk Curlesque Curls Rock Amplifier ($18).

Do the clip trick: The clipping technique is a volume boosting technique that's become pretty popular among curl girls. All you have to do is use a few metal duckbill clips to hold your roots. Apply it to weight hair and leave the clips on until hair is completely dry. I like the Ouidad Curl Clips ($6).

Do the pineapple: The pineapple style is a great way to prevent curls from flattening while you sleep. Simply pull curls up into a high ponytail and secure with a loose scrunchie. In the morning your curls will still be bouncy and intact.
