Despite the fact that's its still been chilly outside, spring is literally just around the corner. And I don't know about you, but for me that means fun, bright nail art! I'm so over dark, oxblood polish and ready for something a little more cheerful and spring-y. I've recently been thinking of doing a cool color-block nail art design (like the one pictured here). So like I always, I sent my nail obsessed/guinea pig (younger sister) to go try it out. And I was amazed at how fantastic it came out. What I love about this look is how it can still go with your dark, winter clothes. If you want something that works for all seasons opt for bright, not pastel polish shades. Don't you just love this look? Let's face it—a nice manicure makes any girl happy (despite the weather). So if you're looking for a quick mood booster, try this colorful design using a few of my simple tips below!

Step 1: Begin by applying a base coat, followed by two coats of bold, red polish to all your nails, minus your ring fingers. Try Essie Polish in Really Red ($8).
Step 2: Then take a matte white polish and apply one coat to the nails on your ring fingers. Take the red polish from before along with a yellow, green and blue polish to create your design.
Step 3: After the nails have completely dried, use a nail art brush to draw on your triangles (they don't need to be perfect) them fill them in with the color polishes leaving the triangle at your base white. If you have a hard time creating precise triangles, using the edge of a piece of scotch tape to help you create your lines.
Step 4: Wait for the triangles to dry and then outline them with black polish using a nail art brush to help separate the colors.
Step 5: Wait 5 more minutes for polish to dry, then finish off with a top coat to help extend your mani. Try Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat ($6).
Viola! You have spring-ready nails!
