4 Easy steps to goddess gold nails!

Pretty shimmery and metallic nail colors are definitely having their moment this fall. I say, what better way to soak in the gorgeous autumn colors than with a golden shimmery polish? Ethereal golden tones were seen on the finger nails of models at the Lela Rose Spring 2013fashion show this September, with Essie's founder and creative director, Essie Weingarten, behind the look.

I've totally fallen in love with this pretty shade, which works perfect for both fall and spring. My favorite part? Recreating this whimsical look is literally as easy as pumpkin pie! Check out my easy tips to get the look and keep that polish on as long as possible!

Step 1: Look for a shimmery gold shade; we love Essie polish in Good As Gold, Nicole by OPI Texture Coat Nail Lacquer in Gold, and Tom Ford Nail Lacquer in Gold Haze.

Step 2: Wipe nails off with a polish remover to make sure they are completly free of oils or product prior to applying color. Then, apply a protein base coat like, Essie Protein Base Coat, to protect nails and hold on to color.

Step 3: Apply two coats of polish and make sure when you apply the nail color you polish over the tip and round to the edge (shell over the nail). Your tips are always the first to chip, so this prevents it from chipping sooner.

Step 4: Set nail color with a quick drying top coat to seal in polish; we love Sally Hansen Super Shine Shiny Top Coat. To extend color for a few more days, reapply top coat a few days after your manicure.

And viola! Golden nails as easy as 1-2-3!
