This time Mayeli is being scruitinized over their 13-year-old daughter, Lupita. She decided to let her get her brows waxed and all hell broke loose on social media.
Mayeli captured the moments before Lupita got her brows done on video.
"Are you nervous?" Mayeli asks and Lupita nods yes.
"Don't move," Mayeli says as a strip of cloth is placed over the wax above Lupita's brows.
It seemed like a totally harmless activity but people used it as an opportunity to judge Mayeli's parenting skills.
Many people who saw the video felt that Lupita was too young to get her brows waxed.
They felt that this kind of grooming takes away a child's innocence. One person even said that the next step was going to a gynecologist. People were truly alarmed by waxing at a young age.
But just as there were people who thought Lupita was too young to get her brows waxed, there were those who didn't see a problem.
People came to Mayeli's defense and didn't see an issue with a 13 or 14-year-old girl getting their brows done in this day and age.
But despite what is being said in the court of public opinion, the most important thing to note is that Mayeli and Lupita did this together.
Lupita got her brows waxed with her mother's consent, which speaks highly of their relationship. There's no reason to jump to conclusions over what this means for Lupita's innocence or to conclude that she is growing too fast. That is Mayeli's business, no one else's.
Having a close relationship with your kids and instilling strong morals and values should be every parent's priority.
Waxing their eyebrows can't break a solid foundation.
