Kim Kardashian is something else. You'd think by now, she'd understand the importance of creating makeup products that come in shades for every woman. But apparently not. In fact, there's been a ton of backlash about how her KKW Beauty Concealer Kits don't cater to women with deep, dark complexions and seriously, why?

Representation matters now more than ever and it's insane to me that brands still don't understand how important it is to offer a full range of shades for all women. When Rihanna dropped her Fenty Beauty line, people went nuts when they learned that the Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Long Wear Foundation came in not 10, not 20, not even 30, but 40 shades. FORTY! Every girl, regardless of how fair or dark she is, was able to find a shade. Fenty Beauty set a standard and yet brands like KKW Beauty have refused to follow.
The concealers only come in 16 shades.
The majority of the shades are light and only offer four shades for deep, dark complexions. Seriously, what is up with that?
The promotional ads are so misleading.
It features even women with very deep skin tones, which is ironic considering the kits don’t actually come in shades that accommodate women with those complexions.
People weren’t afraid to call Kim out.
Quite a few of them went in.
Kim is constantly criticized for cultural appropriation.
Folks were outraged when credited a white woman, Bo Derek, for her corn rows instead of black women, who were the original wearers of the style.
She never acknowledges the cultural appropriation comments.
After being backlashed for dressing up like Aaliyah for Halloween, Kim claimed that they “don’t see color” in her home. When asked about the backlash regarding her “Bo Derek” braids, Kim seemed completely unfazed. “I’m not worried, because I love Bo Derek,” she said in a interview for Elle’s April cover story. “It’s a reference. If you genuinely love something, then it’s what you should. It’s appreciation.
Kim better start making some changes.
And expand the shade range, if she wants women of color to continue to support her and her beauty line KKW Beauty. That's all we're saying.
