Dominican actress Dascha Polanco has been killing it lately. She's still filming for the hit Netflix show Orange Is The New Black, recently went back to her theater roots in Tell Hector I Miss Him, and has really made a name for herself as a bold and badass fashionista. Seriously, how can we forget that stunning nude ensemble she wore to the VH1 Hip Hop Honors Awards, the customized bodysuit she wore under that Virgen de Guadalupe coat at New York Fashion Week, and that $28 Fashion Nova sheer black jumpsuit she made look like a million bucks? The girl clearly has style. So why is it that designers still refuse to dress her?

Dascha might be moving up in her career and driving 2.2 million followers on Instagram, but high fashion designers still have an issue dressing and embracing fuller figured celebs like Dascha. And despite her beautiful facial features and ever-changing hair, beauty brands have also been hesitant to make her the face of their brand.
"It's been hard for me to work with beauty and fashion brands because they don't think I can sell a product or be a face," she told New York magazine. "But people will connect with me because I'm giving you what it is; this is honest. I've seen so many people physically alter themselves to be the 'face' and get jobs. And it's so hypocritical."
The good news is, Dascha doesn't let any of it crush her spirit. In fact, the more designers refuse to dress her, the bolder she gets with her fashion. All you have to do is scroll down her Instagram page to see that she loves fashion and loves showing off her amazing curves. The girl uses any opportunity to rock a skirt, dress, or sexy body suit.

"My mom used to make me skirts. Fashion is something that's within me and I love it," she said. "I don't want a designer to make me feel like I'm a weird person, like I'm not capable of rocking something and making it look beautiful because of my size. I want to have the freedom to say, 'Today I feel like wearing Dolce and Gabbana. Tomorrow I feel like wearing Versace. The day after that I feel like wearing Tracey Reese.' It would be nice not to feel restricted in my choices just because the designer doesn't like my size."

It's upsetting that designers are still not with it when it comes to dressing women that aren't tall, skinny white models but honestly it's their loss. It's only a matter of time before Dascha comes out with her own fashion line and trust me when I say, it's going to be bomb!
