Pre-kids, a day at the beach meant hours of relaxing in the sun, reading a trashy paperback and maybe dipping your toes in the sand. But anyone who has taken a child of any age–toddler to pre-teen–down the shore knows that those days are long gone. Still, it is possible to buy a few minutes of down time if you arrive prepared with plenty of food and some ideas to kick start their little imaginations between swim sessions. But in the interest of not lugging even more gear from the car to the sand, I've dug up a great no-fuss beach game that should cost you no extra-money, no trunk space and very little time–and will help keep your kids active and entertained for hours! Check it out below.

Supplies:
Cup
Ball
Method:
Use the cup to make "pins," by filling it with moist sand and inverting it onto the ground. You'll want eight pins arranged in a triangle shape, with one pin in the front and four pins in the back.
Then draw a line in the sand demarcating where your kids have to stand to roll the pin. This should be age appropriate. You may even want to draw several lines at varying distances if your kids are farther apart in age.
Then just have your kids take turns rolling the ball at the pins to see who can knock the most pins down. You might let each child have two turns in a row before the next child's turn, just like in real bowling!
*If you use a plastic cup, please be sure to dispose of it properly when the game is over. Keeping our beaches clean means a better experience for everyone.
