Nail art is absolutely a bona fide art form. It’s like each nail becomes a canvas that a manicurist can create a masterpiece on. That’s not to say that you always have to go over the top with the designs you choose—sometimes simple is the chicest of chic, but it’s always nice to have options. And, this fall, you’ve got so many wonderful on-trend choices to pick from at your fingertips. What are you waiting for? Stop tappin’ your fingers and use them to scroll down and see what we’re talkin’ about.

Red nail lovers rejoice!

If you are a die-hard red nail fan, then you'll be happy to know that the color never ever seems to go out of style. This bright cherry shade will add joy to your everyday. You could also go for a more muted shade, but this one feels so fresh.

Give yourself the flowers you deserve.

Don’t wait for someone else to sing your praises and give you flowers. Give yourself those flowers. If you put them on your fingertips, you can admire them all day long and be reminded and you don’t have to worry about them wilting.

This is a great riff on a French manicure.

The simplicity and whimsy of it is delightful. The natural nail accented with curved black lines is artistic without being over the top, subtle without being boring. It will look good no matter what you're wearing or what you are doing.

Gold tips, anyone?

Give your French manicure the Midas touch with gold tips. This looks particularly good on healthy nails, so remember to give your hands and nails moisturizing love. No picking or biting allowed.

Or opt for metal accents.

If you're not feeling the French manicure thing, mix things up a bit with metallic accents that are dripping a bit so as not to be "too" perfect or precious. They look edgy and a little punk rock.

Elevate a simple black nail with gilding.

A dark or black nail is always nice, but during the fall add some gilding for fun. The gold is reminiscent of the changing colors of nature. It feels rich and shimmers nicely against the solid background.

Still feeling the whole Barbiecore aesthetic?

With so many shades available, pink is perfect for any season. This kind of marbled, tie-dye version of a pink nail is a great way to keep that Barbiecore look going into fall. The different shades add depth and dimension.

Out of this world!

No one, but no one can convince me that what is going on here isn't out of this world. It's like taking a ride through a magical galaxy. So clever and beautiful. There's also a sculptural thing going on.

Feeling moody?

Whether or not mood rings can accurately reflect your mood is debatable. What's not debatable is that mood rings look trippy and cool. Why not mimic the look on your nails? It's a total vibe.

Don’t forget about brown.

Brown is a color that is very much associated with autumn. Sadly, too many people seem to think that it's kind of boring. But brown nails are beautiful and if you add a little surprise design on one, they are anything but boring.

Chrome it up like Demi Lovato

Yup, those are Demi Lovato's nails, but you can have them, too. Chrome nails feel and look rebellious. You don't even need a motorcycle to go with them, but you might want to get yourself a motorcycle jacket just because your nails would look so good with one.

Or what about some marbled almond nails?

Almond shaped nails with a kind of metallic-marbled French tip are super chic. That pale pink almost nude base coat is the perfect backdrop for the sparkling swirls on the tips.

Get foiled!

Usually getting foiled isn't a good thing and means you were prevented from being successful at something. But when it comes to getting your nails foiled, it's totally a good thing. A little foil adds a lot of interest.

OMG, a black floral design on a natural looking nail!

Who knew so much angst channeled into a nail design could be so utterly lovely? These look like nails that a grown Wednesday Addams would wear proudly. They are exquisite and so, so chic.

This mustard color is perfect for fall.

This color isn't necessarily everyone's favorite, but if you dig it, fall is the perfect season to rock it. Wear it on your nails, get a sweater in the same color, and go sip on a pumpkin latte out in public so that you can wrap your pretty nails around the cup and have strangers throw compliments your way.
