“Fit Mom” Maria Kang is back & shaming curvy girls

Remember Maria Kang, who many dubbed as "Fit Mom"? A picture of her showing off her extremely fit and toned body surrounded by her three gorgeous and very young boys with the caption, "What's your excuse?" made headlines and she was accused of fat shaming. Well, she's back and this time she is being accused of wait for it … fat shaming … AGAIN. CNN put Kang in an interview where she went head to head with Chrystal Bougon, owner of Curvy Girl lingerie. This all came about after a campaign that Bougon started encouraging her plus-sized customers to share photos of themselves in lingerie. Well, that campaign "peeved" Kang because according to her, that's not how "real women" should look.

Honestly, I can't even believe that this is an issue. Seriously?! To Ms. Kang I say, you're body is rockin', it really is, but your attitude and the fat-hate that you spew sucks. I have no problem celebrating fitness and your quest to inspire others to be fit, but you don't have to shame women who are larger and embracing their bodies. We should all embrace our bodies no matter what size we happen to be at the moment. All we have is NOW, mama, and NOW is what we should embrace. Does that mean we shouldn't all try to be healthy? Of course not! It's not one or the other.

As for your comment, "A lot of people can just tell that [a] person is not healthy," you are wrong! You just are. You do not have magical medical eyes that can assess someone's health just by looking at them. I'm sure you know that there are overweight people who exercise and get regular check-ups and are doing quite well on the health front. As I'm sure you know that there are skinny people who look great in a pair of jeans and eat horribly, never exercise, and have health issues. Enough with the bashing! That's what it is. It isn't encouragement, it isn't supportive, it isn't inspiring; it's just shaming and hateful.
