On Sunday,November 3 at 2a.m., everyone who lives where daylight savings time is observed will miraculously get an extra hour. Sorry Arizona and Hawaii, you get nothing. Everyone goes on and on about how the time adjustment in the fall is so much better than the one in the spring. You know the whole, "spring forward, fall back" concept? Because in the spring you lose an hour, but it the fall you get an extra hour. Even I used to go on and on about liking the fall time change better, but now that I am a mami, I call bullCACA on the whole thing. Oh don't worry, I'm about to tell you why.

My kids are little and they don't like to sleep and they really excel at keeping me from sleeping. So on Sunday when they wake up at their usual time, which is around 6 a.m., thanks to the whole daylight savings adjustment, my clock will say 5 a.m. and I will be so pissed off I am now getting up at 5 a.m. instead of 6 a.m. Where's the friggin' hour I was promised?
Then at night when it is time to put them to bed at their regular bedtime, which is 8 p.m., the clock will say 7 p.m. and there is no way in hell that my eldest who knows her numbers is going to look at the clock and buy that it is her bed time when she knows that clock is supposed to say 8 p.m. That means I lose another at the end of the day.
Now do you understand why I think the whole you get an extra hour concept is bullshit? In my mami world, "fall back" means that I lose two whole hours of "me" time.
