Teacher quits to become pole dancer, makes a great role model

Emma Nicholson, a former primary school teacher, had an epiphany and decided that education was no longer for her, but that pole dancing was her true calling.

The 36-year-old from Hull, England had a history of dancing before teaching and realized that she preferred to pursue her love of dance and switch professions. Now she is a competitive pole dancer in the British Pole Superstars Championship, owns her own pole dancing studio, and has no regrets!

One important aspect of switching careers comes from the support provided from family and friends, which Nicholson says she has. The Sun reports that even the former teacher's boyfriend approves of her new profession especially after she'd installed a pole in their home. Little did he know that it would actually lead to helping Nicholsons find her true calling, pole dancing.

What is surprising about Nicholson's career switch is that her former colleagues at the school were supportive of her decision. It's also influenced her students to maintainan open mind when they find out about their teacher's new profession. She says: "When you're influencing young people, it's dangerous to stereotype as you [shouldn't] teach them there's only one type of person."

Nicholson is glad that her students and loved ones have been accepting and understanding of her dancing, adding: "All people are different, so you shouldn't judge." I couldn't have said it better myself!

As strange as it may sound that Nicholson decided she wanted to pole dance instead of teach, I agree with her decision. Not every teacher wants to teach and probably had other dreams before entering the educational field. This woman followed her dreams and is now accomplishing them little by little. Not many people have the guts to do what Nicholson did, but when you're passionate about something, nothing can stop you. For that reason, she actually IS a great role model. And maybe your destiny isn't pole dancing, but it's important to not give up on your own dreams.
