Lemons
Lemons naturally fight bacteria since they contain a natural astringent called L-asorbic acid. Juice a few lemons into a container. Dip a cotton pad or swab in the fresh juice and apply to the dry acne infested area. Leave for 30 minutes and rinse with warm water. Just make sure not to use on open pimple scars!
Calamine lotion
Calamine lotion is often the go-to for bug bites, but it also helps reduce redness caused by acne. Everyday Roots has a great all natural recipe for calamine lotion you can make at home. All you'll need is fresh water, calamine oil, baking soda and sea salt. Whether you buy it or make it at home, it will soothe your acne irritation right away. Rub in before bed and wear overnight for best results.
Witch hazel astringent
Deep clean your pores with a natural witch hazel toner like Humphreys Maravilla Lotion. The remedy made in the 1800's gently cleans your face while curing minor skin irritations caused by acne.
Baking soda
Baking soda is amazing for your skin because it helps to regulate your pH balance. It's also great for natural exfoliating. Simply mix a cup of water with two tablespoons of baking soda and mix into a paste. Apply to skin and rinse after five minutes.
Tea tree oil
Tea tree oil helps heal redness and irritation caused by acne. It also helps blast bacteria that hides deep in your pores. You can apply the oil directly on the effected area and rinse after 15 minutes. As a moisturizer, you can also mix a few drops with aloe vera lotion and leave on skin.
Orange peel
Natural acidity works wonders for fighting pregnancy acne. Save the peel of an orange and grind it in a blender or food processer. Mix half a cup of water and blend to create a paste. Take the mixture and apply to the acne prone area. Leave for 15 minutes and rinse gently with warm water.
Aloe vera
The natural plant extract contains magnesium lactate, which helps remove excess dirt from the skin and heals swelling caused from acne break-outs. Cut the fresh aloe plant leaf and apply the gel directly to the acne area twice a day.
Fenugreek
The herb is a natural antioxidant that will help heal acne caused by pregnancy and restore your natural glow. Once you grab a bunch at the market, make sure you bring it home and rinse well. Add to a food processor or blender along with a cup of water. Take the paste and apply as a facial mask for 20 minutes. Then rinse and repeat three times a week.
Apple cider vinegar
Your pantry is storing acne fighting magic too! Apple cider vinegar works as a powerful natural astringent that helps clear the skin and get rid of acne. Use 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 4 tablespoons of water. Mix well and apply to acne prone area. Leave in for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water.
Honey
Honey is a great natural ingredient to help get rid of blemishes and fight acne. There are several honey masks out there, but my favorite is simple. Just mix 2 tablespoons of honey with 1 tablespoon of cinnamon. Massage mixture to entire face and let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse well since it will be sticky, but trust me it's worth it.
