7 Toddler behaviors you might find REALLY weird but are totally normal

Face it, there are so many times when you've looked at your kid pulling his latest crazy antic and wondered: is my child normal? Children are full of surprises and when there's a new discovery waiting for them at every turn, things can get a little wacky. Add to this the fact that children have yet to develop any insecurities, hold no inhibitions, and have no concept of consequences and you're in for an interesting ride. Below, a few toddler behaviors that would make any parent question their child's development, but are really quite normal.

1. Picking their nose and exploring other parts of their bodies is natural for a young child, but it might turn the most cool, calm, and collected parent beet red. Everything is new for your little human and they're discovering new sensations during these early developmental stages. To avoid giving them a complex later on in life, just divert their attention elsewhere or explain why certain things are not done in public.

2. Shoving things in places where they don't belong. This can turn dangerous when that place is an orifice on their body. They're learning all about this new vessel that they live, but still don't know that shoving that bean up their nose is not the best idea.

3. Eating strange things. Ever catch your child munching on a handful of mud and wondered how on earth she could find that tasty? Curious kids will eat all kinds of weird things that would make our stomachs turn and thing nothing of it. Just know you and your child are not alone. If it becomes a regular occurrence though, you might want to chat with your child's pediatrician.

4. Naked baby! If your child loves to fly free and run around the house in his birthday suit, this is also really normal. At this age, they are completely uninhibited and don't know about social norms and inappropriate behavior. You might want to hide in shame if he pulls this stunt when you have guests over, but you don't have to worry that you're raising some sort of freak.

5. They get dirty on purpose. On the other side of this are those (not so) wonderful moments when you dress your little one in her Sunday best, but then she'll turn right around and roll around in the dirt as soon as you finish tying up that bow.

6. A child's imaginary friends might sound like crazy talk especially when you're asked to address them at the dinner table, but this is just your child's imagination getting some exercise. It's also a way for him to make sense of what's going on around him and provide comfort when he's left to play on his own.

Children are generally silly creatures who entertain themselves by doing some really strange things. If she insists on wearing her bathing suit to the supermarket, wants to start walking around the house on all fours like an animal, or gets a little too engrossed (emphasis on gross) with what's in her diaper, just remember: you are so not alone.
