Everyone seems to have an opinion about breastfeeding these days. Wannabe pinup model Josie Cunningham, best known in her home country as the "UK's most controversial boobs" after using tax payer money to fund plastic surgery has some, um, interesting things to say on the subject. I'm pretty sure that this lady is pretty much a professional troll at this point (she also claimed she was going to have an abortion so she could appear on Big Brother and get famous, but later recanted), but her latest comments about breastfeeding have really made moms mad. Cunningham recently went on a Twitter tirade, blasting breastfeeding as "vile" and saying it was "borderline incestuous." Seriously, what a boob!

Cunningham's crazy tweets were in response to an onslaught of questions faced by the mother-of-three regarding whether or not she planned on breastfeeding her newborn daughter, Grace. She, it appears, is not interested. Not in the least. "Wish people would stop asking if I'm breast feeding like Kimberly Walsh. No I'm not! I think the idea is vile and borderline incest!" What? Okay, I can understand not wanting to breastfeed, but bashing it as some form of act of sexual deviance? That's insane.
But you know what, you have to take everything this woman says with a grain of salt. Earlier this year, she advised young women to consider becoming a pinup model or escort should they flunk out of school. It's obvious that this woman's priorities are a bit skewed toward the superficial. That being said, I think her reason for not wanting to breastfeed has little to do with a real fear of sexual misconduct and more to do with her fear of losing the pep to her government-issued fake breasts. If that's the case, she should just say it. Because that would sound a lot less insane than what she actually tweeted.
Listen, I know that breast is best. It's healthier for both mom and baby than powdered milk, and let's not forget, cheaper. However, I believe in a woman's right to choose what she wants to do with her body, and that includes having the right to choose not to breastfeed. Yes, even if that choice is made with vanity in mind. It's her body. So long as she's feeding her child and taking care of her, it's not any of my business to comment. Just like it's not any of her business to accuse breastfeeding mothers of committing a sex crime against their children.
At the end of the day, I believe we all owe it to others to just accept and respect their personal decisions, even if they're decisions we would never make for ourselves. Cunningham, of all people should be on board with that. After all, this is a woman who admitted to the press that she once considered having an abortion so that she could be on Big Brother. I'm not even kidding you. Ultimately, she chose to keep the baby, but still, the point remains: she had a choice. She made it.In general, we should respect the decisions women make regarding their own bodies.
Hey, I don't agree with Cunningham's decision to nix breastfeeding because she supposedly feels it's incestuous, but I will respect her decision nonetheless. But on the flip side, I believe she should respect women who choose to breastfeed their children. I'm not asking her to agree with their decision; just respect it. Because at the end of the day, respect is kind of tit for tat. I'm sure she can understand that.
