Summer is a great time to immerse your kids in as much Spanish as possible. For starters, they're no longer in school, which means there's less daily stresses for both them and you. Plus, you'll probably be taking some time off to go on vacation and, even if you're not, summer days are much longer, which means you get to spend a lot more time with them.

Check out five fun ways in which you can immerse your kids in Spanish this summer:
Spanish Summer

Every year, my friend Tracy, of the blog Latinaish, implements what she calls Spanish Summer and I think it's a wonderful idea! Basically, you make a commitment to speak only in Spanish to your kids during the summer. She's been doing it since 2010 and says her kids have already become used to the idea.
Summer festivals

Summer is the equivalent of festivals. Do a search to find out what's going on in your town that's related to the Latino culture and I bet you'd be surprised to find at least a couple of options. Plus, many Latin American countries celebrate their independence during the summer, so you'll surely find some kind of celebration around those.
World Cup Brasil 2014

Unless you've been living under a rock, you are aware that the biggest and most important sporting event of the world is currently underway. I'm talking about el Mundial and if you're not already watching the partidos with your kids on Univision, you need to switch immediately.
Listen (and dance) to music in Spanish

Fill your house with music this summer, just make sure to have a good selection of music in Spanish. From children's music to rock en español, expose your kids to any and all genres and play the songs over and over again. Oh, yeah, and don't forget to dance!
Cook Latin recipes

Since you'll probably have more time than during the school year, why not attempt to make a recipe from a different Latin American country this summer? The idea is for your kids to get involved and for you to talk about the ingredients and the country the recipe comes from all in Spanish.
