Wow, I just saw something that made a piece of advice that my mother always gave me as a child come reverberating back into my brain. I'll tell you about it in a minute, but the whole thing has me thinking about a lot of advice that my mami (and maybe your mami too) gave that I dismissed, but is actually super useful. Time to review and start giving my own kids the same advice because mami knowns best at least sometimes.

Watch where you are going!
This is what made it all come flooding back to me. My mami always told me to watch where I was walking and NEVER walk over grates, manholes or those cellar doors on the sidewalk. Well, some guy in New York City NOT paying attention and he totally fell into open cellar doors.
Do not walk with your hands in your pockets!
My mami always says that if you walk with your hand in your pockets you won't be able to catch yourself if you fall. Well, my cousin didn't listen and he fell down the stairs with his hands in his pockes and he couldn't pull his hands out fast enough to catch himself before his face hit the stairs. Ouch!
Always wear clean underwear.
Let's say that you don't listen to Mami's advice to watch where you are walking or to walk without your hands in your pocket, then I hope you do listen to the advice to always, always have on a pair of clean and presentable underwear otherwise when you get rushed to the ER, you are going to be very embarrassed.
Always have some cash in your wallet.
Mami never leaves the house without some good ol' fashioned cash. You just never know whey you may need it. After all the saying is, cash is king, not plastic is king.
