The 6 best photo apps for baby’s 1st year

If your first baby has yet to make his appearance you may not know it yet, but your cell phone's primary use is soon to become snapping and sharing pics of your brand-new bundle of joy. I guarantee you that even if you were the type to roll your eyes at people who post photos of their babies on Facebook all day, you'll soon be one of them. But it's hard to get pictures of a baby, and later a toddler, that hardly ever stops wiggling (or running), so a few good photo apps definitely come in handy. Nevermind that you'll want to make sure that you have all of those precious shots backed up somewhere so that you don't lose them if your phone crashes or you have trouble transferring them when you upgrade your device.

Instagram

Google Play

We'll start with the most obvious. If you haven't heard of Instagram you've definitely been living under a rock, but if you haven't joined yet, you should. Instagram is the quickest, easiest, most user-friendly way I've found to snap and upload photos and videos to multiple social media sites at once. The filters are pretty good, and the minimalistic interface, makes it something you can do in literally a snap.

VSCO Cam

Apple

VSCO Cam is a favorite among popular bloggers and prolific Instagrammers. It has less of  a social aspect, making it a great app for peeps who take photography seriously and aren't concerned about how many people follow them and what they think about the content of their photos. VSCO allows for high-res images and has more in-depth editing capabilities which will allow you to create high-quality images from anywhere.

deGeo

Apple

deGeo is an app that enables users to remove the geotags from their photos before uploading them to other sites including Facebook and Instagram so that no one can track a user's exact location in real time or otherwise. This is a great idea if you're a stickler for privacy, especially when it comes to your kids. Only available for iPhone and iPad.

QuickPic

Google Play

QuickPic offers the ultimate in photo organizing and viewing — something you'll definitely want considering the thousands of photos you are likely to take in your baby's first year of life. You can organize your photos into folders, create slideshows, do some basic editing and load more than 10,000 photos at a time for viewing. Plus, you can password protect the photos in your phone. Only available for Android devices.

Over

Over is really just for fun, but it's an easy way to add adorable messages to photos of your little one before sharing them with friends and family. The app features various unique fonts and artwork that you can overlay onto your own photos to create a personalized image. It would even be a great way to make those sweet monthly update photos. Only available for iPhone an iPad.

Dropbox

Apple

Dropbox isn't a photography app at all, but it's one that will allow you to quickly and easily backup all of those treasured  images and videos as well as view them on any of your devices regardless of platform. You can even send them to friends and family with dropbox accounts with just the click of a button. Plus, you can create a favorites folder that can be viewed offline no matter where you are. It works for nearly any type of file, making it a a great multi-purpose app.
