My children are blessed and I truly hope that yours are too. My children have a home, clothes and food. Their essentials are covered and I am beyond grateful because I know that many kids are not so lucky. Many kids have a shameful secret that they keep and take with them to school every day. It is the kind of secret that keeps them from being the best that they can be from achieving all they can achieve. It's shameful not because of anything the children have done, it's shameful because in the United States of America, no child should have to keep this secret. What's the secret?

The secret is that they are hungry. The secret is that for lots of kids, that one meal that they get at school is the only meal they will get all day. The secret is that these kids are not thrilled when there is a snow day because that means they won't eat. The secret is that these kids don't look forward to school vacations because that means they have no idea how they will get any food for an extended period of time.
