Just a few days after a South California baby was dubbed one of the largest ever born in the state, another child from North California has usurped the title! Jeez, what in the world is in the water in California?!
Sosefina Tagalu's son Sammisano Joshua Talai Otuhiva weighed a whopping 16 pounds, 1.7 ounces at birth, making him potentially THE biggest baby ever to be born in the state. Wow, that's one GIANT baby boy! Just wait 'til you see his photo after the jump!

Talagu gave birth to Sammisano in August 2013 and had no idea that he was a record-breaking baby in size at the time. It wasn't until last month, when fellow California mom, Vanessa Cervantez's son, 15-pound Andrew, started making headlines that she realized her own not-so-little guy (who is almost a full pound above Cervantez's baby!) was probably the biggest of them all.
"My friends and family told me I needed to set the record straight," Talagu told the San Francisco Chronicle. Oh, and get this: Sammisano was actually born early. In fact, doctors told Talagu that if he had been born on his scheduled due date, he could've weighed up to 18 pounds! OH MY GOSH!
As if that wasn't crazy enough, Talagu says while his sister was of a normal weight, his two older brother were also of a larger size, weighing 12 pounds, 4 ounces and 11 pounds, 1 ounce respectively. Clearly, it runs in the family!
Sammisano is now 5 months and weighs 23 pounds.
Yeesh! Well, I definitely Talagu deserves a ton of credit for giving birth to THREE big babies, one of which weighed over 16 pounds! Still, she isn't the only brave mommy to welcome a larger-than-life baby. Below, check out a picture of Sammisano at birth and other record-breaking babies:
