Teen mom’s failed abortion turns out to be biggest blessing for this family

It's not often you hear about an abortion not taking full effect, but one 19-year-old mom found out she was STILL pregnant three months after receiving hers. Shannon Skinner decided to have an abortion when she was eight weeks pregnant. She already had a 4-month-old daughter and she and her partner Anthony were going through problems. But shortly after the procedure Shannon continued to experience morning sickness and even felt movements in her body. That's when she found out that her baby had survived the abortion!

Shannon knew something was off when she noticed she was still having morning sickness and feeling movements in her womb, but her doctors convinced her it was just side effects from the abortion. But finally after three months of the same symptoms she found out her daughter had survived the abortion. Scans even revealed that the baby was physically fine.

Crazy thing is Shannon was never fully content with her decision to have the abortion in the first place. "Lacie was just four months old at the time, so I had to do what I thought was best," she said. "But it was not an easy decision and I regretted it straight away after it and even at the time didn't know if I was doing the right thing."

Shannon didn't have a surgical abortion, instead she had the one that involves taking a series of pills. It wasn't until December 20 that she finally understood that she was really pregnant, because after taking two pregnancy test already, the third test read positive.

But this time Shannon and Anthony plan on keeping their baby girl despite the fact that there's no guarantee she won't experience health complications. But after a miracle like that, who wouldn't?

Who would have thought it was actually possible for a baby to survive an abortion? According to a spokesperson for the family planning organization, Marie Stopes International, it's rare but possible. "Cases like this are few and far between but of course that does not make the situation any the less upsetting," the spokesperson said.

Considering Shannon never seemed sure about her decision, I'm glad she was given a second chance to keep her baby. There's a reason why that little baby managed to survive and I couldn't be happier for this family!
