The craziest births of 2013

When pregnant New York woman Karen Hollander went shopping on Christmas Eve, she thought she'd beat the crowds and buy a car seat before the stores closed for the holidays. But it seems as if her baby had other plans!

While on her way home, Hollander went into labor–more than two weeks before her January 9 due date! Looks like her little one just couldn't wait until the new year!

Hollander called her husband, Roger, and the two agreed to meet at a point halfway between them. But she didn't make it that far. When she realized her labor was speeding up, Hollander called 911 and the operators started to guide her through the motions.

"The 911 operator was like, 'OK, when the baby comes out you're going to have to use suction,' " the mom told the Daily News. "I'm like, 'I'm driving. I'm by myself. I'm not delivering my baby in this Prius.' "

Thankfully, she didn't have to! An ambulance eventually pulled up next to her car, brought her in and started to drive her to the hospital. But the birth was happening quicker than expected and soon, medics were forced to pull over on the side of the road and deliver the baby right there.

Can you imagine?! I don't blame Hollander for panicking a little … I think any woman would've done the same!

Despite her chaotic entrance into the world, little Alexandra Leah Hollander was born safely. Meanwhile, her dad was taken by utter surprise by he finally arrived at the hospital. He had no idea she already been born! Ha!

But Hollander's not the only one to experience an, err, unique labor this year. Below, check out some more of the craziest birth stories of the year!
