One thing that there is always an abundance of in my home are broken bits of crayons. I never throw them away because I'm a hoarder they can be reused. My kids don't like using the itty little bits of broken crayons that they make, but they do like turning those broken bits of crayons back into large crayons by baking them.

It's super easy to do and if you live with an abundance of broken crayons, then I highly recommend you start baking them for reuse as well. Your kids can use them and they also make for great party favors or gifts.
Here's what you'll need:
- Broken bits of crayons
- A silicone mold (I like a star shaped one for the corners, you can use whatever you like)
- An oven pre-heated to 250°F.
Check out the slideshow to see how easy it is to make your own awesome shaped crayons.
Silicone baking tray
You will need a silicone tray. Make sure it's not plastic. Plastic melts, silicone is for baking. You can buy then at crafts stores, online, or places with baking supplies.

Fill the mold with your broken crayon bits. If your bits are too big, break them into smaller pieces. You can separate by color family or just put them all together like we did.
Bake them
Place your mold in an oven that has been preheated to 250°F for anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes. Keep an eye on them, once they get "soupy" take them out, you don't want them to burn. I recommend putting your silicone mold on top of a lined cookie sheet to avoid a mess when you pull them out.
Remove crayons from mold
Let the "soupy" crayons completely cool and harden, then remove them from the silicone tray. Using a silicone tray makes it very easy to remove your brand new crayons.
