Why Alec & Hilaria Baldwin’s baby girl will speak Spanish

It's official: Alec Baldwin and his Latina wife, Hilaria Thomas Baldwin, will welcome a baby girl this summer! The couple, who announced their pregnancy last month, took to social media to share the happy news.

"So happy about our little girl! Thank you all for the happy wishes xoxo," Hilaria tweeted last week.

And it looks like the mom-to-be is already making big plans for her little princess. The 28-year-old recently told Us Weekly that she definitely wants her child to speak Spanish!

"I was on the phone with my nephew, who's seven. He called me …and he asked me, 'Is she going to speak Spanish?'" she told the magazine. "I said, 'Yes, but you have to help because she's going to grow up here probably so you have to help speak to her in Spanish.'"

Though she admitted that teaching her will be a "little tricky" since her husband doesn't speak the language, Hilaria says she thinks that could actually add to the fun. "Maybe we will have our own conversation and he'll have to learn. We can talk behind his back. I cannot wait!" she exclaimed.

Aww! It's so sweet to see how excited the two of them are to be welcoming their first child and I love that Hilaria is raising her bilingual. Teaching kids a second language from a young age is much easier than having them learn it once they're older and becoming fluent in Spanish will undoubtedly be beneficial to Hilaria's little girl in some way or another later in life. Besides, I think it's great that she is finding ways to pass on her culture to her kids.

Congrats to both her and Alec on the amazing news!
