A woman in Jackson, Michigan, went into the hospital thinking that she had a hernia and came out later that night with a 10-pound baby girl!
Linda Ackley had absolutely no idea that she had a full-term baby inside of her when she went into Allegiance Health on a Friday morning. The 44-year-old woman and her 45-year-old husband Mike had no clue that they were about to become first-time parents until she had to undergo an emergency C-section and delivered Kimberly Kay Ackley at 11:20 p.m., weighing 10 pounds and 1 ounce and looking completely normal and healthy despite her unexpected birth.

The whole thing sounds like something out of a fairy tale. The couple had given up hope of having a child a long time ago. Just two years ago, in February 2011, Linda Ackley contracted necrotizing fasciitis, commonly known as the flesh-eating bacteria, and her life came into serious danger. She slipped into a coma for a week, some of the muscles of her stomach had to be removed and doctors did not think she would live.
Luckily, she DID live–though her stomach issues are responsible for her thinking that the baby's kicks are nothing but her tummy muscles twitching. Plus, her periods have always been irregular and she did not notice any significant weight gain. Needless to say, Linda, her husband and the entire family were shocked to find that she was actually having a baby!

I honestly can't believe that she didn't realize that she was pregnant for 40 weeks but, well, it happens more than we'd think. Plus, the surprise for the family is absolutely adorable. Very sadly, Linda had just lost her mother–but now they all have something joyous to celeb rate instead. I'm thrilled for the family and for their completely unexpected new baby.
