Kim Kardashian & Kanye West are expecting a baby & I am really happy for them

The Internet nearly exploded last night as Kanye West—in true Kanye West style—announced in the middle of one of his concerts that his girlfriend of 8 months, Kim Kardashian was expecting his baby. "Stop the music! Make noise for my baby mama," he said, as he gestured to Kim who was in the audience at the Revel Resort, where Kanye was performing the last of his three-night concert series.

After this announcement, thousands of frenzied fans at the concert tweeted out the news, and Kim's very socially networked family immediately started jumping in on the action, tweeting messages of congratulations and happiness. (My fave: Khloe's ecstatic tweet: "Keeping secrets is hard with so many family members! Especially when you are so freaking excited!!!!! LOVE is everything!!!!") Quite literally, cyberspace almost got consumed with the baby news.

And I have to join them–congrats Kim and Kanye! I am outing myself as a Kim admirer right here….

Kim herself confirmed the news this morning, writing on her website's blog:

t's true!! Kanye and I are expecting a baby. We feel so blessed and lucky and wish that in addition to both of our families, his mom and my dad could be here to celebrate this special time with us. Looking forward to great new beginnings in 2013 and to starting a family. Happy New Year!!! Xo

Despite what any of us may think of Kim, or her weird marriage to Kris Humphreys (which by the way is not officially over, but we shall see), or her family's annoying penchant for writing words with K's instead of C's, I can't help to be happy for the girl, who–you have to admit–has had kind of a rough year.

Her marriage very publicly disintegrated at the end of last year after just 72 days. I know that many people think it was all a publicity sham, but honestly, I think the girl just got starry eyed and a few days in realized the huge mistake she had made. I just hope she learned something from that whole fiasco!

Kanye and Kim actually make a cute couple, and they seem to spend an awful lot of time together, which in the world of celeb relationships is, like, pretty much an anomaly. There's hope right there.

I admit, I do like Kim Kardashian. I know on her show she doesn't come off as the smartest of cookies (and, yes, there's the whole matter of why she's even famous to begin with, but I'm not delving into that), but I respect her one thing: she's not a waif. She is proud of her curves, her bubble butt, her boobs, and along with Jennifer Lopez and other meaty celebs recently, has really helped change positive body perception—at least for me. The world still loves a lot of waify body types, but I see the admiration for us, the meatier gals out there.

I can't wait to see how her body changes throughout her pregnancy and her pregnancy style (yes!). Congrats once again Kim and Kanye!
