We are all well aware that celebrity kids get very different treatment than most people's children. But that has still not stopped me from being totally astounded to learn that Katie Holmes has reportedly spent almost $50,000 on her six-year-old daughter, Suri's christmas presents. 50 grand?! That's the equivalent of college tuition!
Apparently, Holmes is attempting to make up for the chaos that followed her divorce from ex-husband, Tom Cruise, by showering her daughter with presents—including items like an iPad mini, tons of designer clothes, and a children's version of a Mercedes Benz that runs for around $9,000. Have I mentioned that Suri is only 6?
That's not even the worst of it. Holmes also allegedly bought a huge Victorian playhouse that comes complete with running water and electricity. The price tag? Over $24,000! Are you freaking kidding me?!

I truly hope that this is all just a rumor and not an accurate representation of Suri's daily life. But sadly, I feel like even if the reports are exaggerated, they're probably not that far off—which honestly just makes me sick. I know that its Holmes' money and her child and all the other excuses people will try to justify this sort of action with…but frankly, I don't care. I don't think anyone should be spending that kind of money on gifts, let alone for a kid that's barely out of her toddler years and is known for being way too spoiled already!
Especially now, with so many people out of a job and in dire need of the very basic items of survival, that kind of extravagant spending just seems unnecessarily wasteful. Not to mention that bribing your child to make her feel better about your divorce is hardly a healthy coping mechanism– and it's definitely not very good parenting on Holmes' part.
