Woman who donated eggs now unable to get pregnant

Back in 2008, Leah Campbell decided to become an egg donor after hearing about the option from a friend. One of the eggs she donated helped a couple have twins and Campbell was ecstatic to be able to help them that way. But in one of those incredible twists of life, the following year, Campbell couldn't believe it when she was told she had stage IV endometriosis and was running out of time if she wanted to become a mom herself. Although single, the 29-year-old woman from Alaska looked for a sperm donor and went through two IVF cycles, but they were both unsuccessful. And Campbell was devastated.

This is what she said about the ordeal to the Huffington Post Live:

I would have gone to the ends of the earth to get pregnant. It was all that mattered to me. Realistically the only thing that stopped me was that I was $30,000 in debt, and heartbroken, and on my own, and I couldn't do it anymore.

It's totally crazy to me how life could play such a cruel joke on Campbell. I mean, she was capable of helping another couple achieve their dream of becoming parents never imagining that a few months down the road, she'd be the one with fertility problems. How does something like that happen?

Campbell says she doesn't know what the future holds for her, but she has started to think about the idea of adopting since becoming a mom has always been one of her desires. And I can't help but wonder what the couple she helped a few years back must think about her current ordeal.
