Twitter has officially taken over the world!! Need proof? A baby girl born on Saturday night was actually named–wait for it–Hashtag Jameson.
No seriously….I wish I was kidding.
The morning after Baby Hashtag was born, her parents (ironically) took to Facebook to announce the news, writing, "Hashtag Jameson was born at 10clock last nite. She weys 8pounds and I luv her so much!" Then, just a couple of days later and less than a week after she was born, Hashtag was already trending on Twitter with her own (you guessed it) #hashtag.

With news of the, uh, unusual name spreading quickly, the Twittersphere chimed in with their opinions on the name. Some called it "horrible" and "cruel" while others joked that a little brother named "retweet" is on the way. Still others thought it was all a bizarre way of promoting the whiskey company, Jameson.
I like Twitter as much as the next person, but I have to agree with the naysayers on this one. HASHTAG?! They really named their newborn daughter that? It's just silly, especially because the girl will have to live with the name the rest of her life while Twitter, in all likelihood, will lose popularity in the future. I mean, imagine if someone named their kid My Space! They would surely be regretting it now.
