15 Series to watch on Netflix right now

Being a mom can take a lot out of me, which is why at the end of a long day of momming, I like to chill with Netflix. This is not to be mistaken with the naughty “Netflix and chill.” Nope, what I’m talking about is actually chilling while watching an awesome series on Netflix. Once the evening rolls around, everyone has been fed, and has gotten ready for bed, I like to spend some quality time relaxing while watching some stories on Netflix. It’s like a little vacation that I get to take regularly without leaving my home. I have a feeling that I’m not the only mom who likes to do that, so I thought I’d share some great series to stream on Netflix right now with you just in case you want to chill with Netflix too.

There are always tons of great series to watch on Netflix, but going through each and every one to figure out which might appeal to you feels more like a chore than a prelude to relaxing. Here you’ll find some great titles for series to add to your watch list so when the time comes for you to kick off your shoes or chanclas and put your feet up, you’ll be ready to hit play in no time.

'Maid' is a limited series.

Netflix describes this 10-episode series that came out in 2021 as: “One young mother's incredible story of survival and resilience as she navigates the world of poverty, abuse and redefining her worth against all odds.” It came out in 2021

'Atypical' has four seasons available.

Follow along as Sam, an 18-year-old on the autism spectrum, and his family go through life-changing challenges. Ostensibly the show is about Sam, but everyone in his family goes through their own fascinating journey.

'House of Flowers' has three seasons available.

This tongue-in-cheek telenovela satire is dark comedy at its best. It can be a bit polarizing, with some loving it and some thinking it’s a bit too over the top. But give it a chance if you haven’t already because if it’s your kind of humor, then you are going to love it.

'Kim’s Convenience' has five seasons available.

This show is a gem that centers around the the Kims, a Korean-Canadian family that run a convenience store in downtown Toronto. You will fall in love with all of the characters. The cast is diverse and the writing is great.

'On the Verge' has one season available.

The show, which follows four middle-aged female friends in Los Angeles, is billed as a series as opposed to a miniseries or a limited series, but there hasn’t been any word on whether it will be getting a second season or not.

'Firefly Lane' has one season available.

While living on Firefly Lane, Tully and Kate become best friends. Their relationship goes through many ups and downs throughout 30 years. Netflix will be producing a second season, which is good because the ending of season one really leaves you wanting to know more.

'Sweet Magnolias' has two seasons available.

The “sweet magnolias” are three women—Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue—who have been best friends since childhood and live in a small Southern town called Serenity. Despite the name, there are plenty of un-serene things going on in Serenity and these women help each other through the good and the bad.

'Ozark' has four seasons available.

The story in a nutshell: Marty Byrde, a financial advisor, moves his family to the Ozarks because he has to launder money for the second largest drug cartel in Mexico. Somehow you find yourself rooting for the Byrdes even though they get themselves involved in some shady situations.

'Gentefied' has two seasons available.

It’s heartbreaking that Netflix is not renewing this wonderful show for a third season. Sigh. Maybe they’ll do a reboot someday. Still, the two seasons it did produce are wonderful. Watching the Morales cousins try to save their abuelo’s taco shop is wonderful.

'The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl In the Window' has one season available.

This show is a parody! It’s a parody on shows/movies that have women feeling like they are losing their minds when in reality they aren’t. It’s important that you know that going in because apparently a lot of people did not and failed to see that it is a comedy. It’s full of outrageous twists and turns. The ending leaves you wondering if there will be more to come.

'You' has three seasons available.

Joe Goldberg gets obsessed with women and finds a way to make the object of his obsession fall in love with him. The thing is that once they are in love with him, things turn bad, really, really bad.

'After Life' has three seasons available.

Tony loses his wife and with her his will to live. Slowly over the course of three seasons, he makes deep and incredible connections with the people in his life. It’s a beautiful series that will make you laugh and cry.

'The Good Place' has four seasons available.

It all starts off when Eleanor, who wasn’t a very good person in life, dies and accidentally finds herself in the “the good place.” The way it ends and how it gets to the end is a fun and surprisingly insightful journey.

'Schitt’s Creek' has six seasons available.

The Rose family used to be filthy rich, but when they lose all their money they find themselves up Schitt’s Creek without a paddle or so they think. The cast, the writing, and everything about this series is a breath of fresh air.

'The Queen’s Gambit' is a limited series.

British-Argentine actor Anya Taylor-Joy won a Golden Globe Award for her performance as Beth Harmon in The Queen’s Gambit. Beth learns how to play chess while in an orphanage and goes on to become a chess star while dealing with addiction.
