What in the what is going on with Miley Cyrus' family? Are they really feuding as much as has been speculated? First, there were all the assumptions made about a father-daughter rift when earlier this year Miley won her first Grammy and noticeably failed to thank her father Billy Ray Cyrus during her acceptance speech. And now there are reports of a mother-daughter rift between Miley’s mother Tish Cyrus and Miley’s younger sister Noah Cyrus over a man, of all things! Say it ain’t so!

A little backstory before we dive deep into the chisme. Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus got married in 1993. During their time together, they had three children: Miley, Braison, and Noah. Tish had two kids from a previous relationship Brandi and Trace, whom Billy adopted. During their marriage they filed for divorce, but reconciled twice. In 2022, Tish filed for divorce again and this time it stuck. Since then, Tish started dating, got engaged to, and married Prison Break actor Dominic Purcell. But, get this! According to an inside source, Dominic dated Noah Cyrus before dating Tish. I know, shocking!
Who said what now?
Well, according to an insider with loose lips that spoke to Us Weekly, Dominic was actually dating Tish’s youngest daughter Noah before Tish went after him. Wait what?! Ay, ay, ay. Let’s break this down.
Did Tish know that Noah was dating Dominic?
“Noah was [seeing] Dominic when Tish started pursuing him,” the source told Us Weekly. The source also claims that Tish “was aware” that her daughter was dating Dominic. For reference, Tish is 56, Dominic is 54, and Noah is 24.
Regardless of who dated him first, Tish has had a long-standing attraction for Dominic.
During the February 6 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Tish talked about how she would watch Dominic on Prison Break and had a crush on him. She even shared that he was her “hall pass” while she was married to Billy Ray.
Dominic slid into her DMs in 2016.
“I had followed him on Instagram and he DMed me and just said, ‘Hey Tish, just wanted to [say], I think you're super cool and…you're doing such a great job with your family.’… I didn't see it for a year,” she said on the February podcast episode.
Then in 2022, after filing for divorce from Billy Ray, Tish decided to reach out to Dominic.
And somehow that led to their first date. Tish said on Call Her Daddy that on their first date they went to lunch and made “out for three hours.” She also said that just one day after their first date, Tish shared that they were already saying “I love you.”
They went public with their relationship in November 2022.
Tish shared a picture of her and Dominic on her Instagram Story. Then, that same month, on Thanksgiving, Dominic asked Tish to marry him. The proposal was actually planned by Dominic with the help of Miley.
“Dom, along with Miley, planned the entire thing,” Tish told Vogue. “They knew we would all be together as a family and thought it would be the perfect time!” That feels like a ringing endorsement from Miley.
Tish went public with her engagement in April 2023.
She posted a picture a picture of which shows Dominic’s arms wrapped around her from behind. She has her left hand over his right hand and you can see her ring finger has a giant emerald-cut diamond on it. In the caption, she wrote: “A thousand times…. YES ❤️.
Guess who wasn’t at their August 2023 wedding?
Noah did not attend and she kind of made sure that everyone knew she didn’t show up to her mom’s wedding to Dominic by posting pictures of herself and her brother Braison hanging out at a Walmart. Oh, and she just happened to be wearing a Billy Ray Cyrus T-shirt. Yikes.
One source claims Noah wasn’t even invited to the wedding.
Us Weekly reports that a source said that not only was Noah not invited to the wedding, Miley hired security to make sure Noah didn’t show up. Let’s take that with a grain of salt, though. I’m sure there would have been security there no matter what since we’re talking about a celebrity wedding, after all.
It is strange that Noah wasn’t at the wedding.
“The turmoil between Noah and Tish goes far beyond [what people think],” said the Us Weekly source. “Noah is very distraught over Tish stealing Dominic from her.” Honestly, I hope the source is wrong or misinformed because it feels tragic that a mother and daughter would fall out because of a man.
None of the main players have commented.
None of the people involved in this supposed love triangle have commented on the situation. Us Weekly reached out to Trish, Noah, and Dominic and got no response. Makes you wonder why anyone would want to share such a salacious accusation anonymously.
Also, Noah got engaged in May 2023.
It feels kind of important to mention that on June 26, 2023, Noah announced in a since deleted Instagram post that she got engaged to fashion designer Pinkus, so even if she had dated Dominic, it doesn’t seem like she was pining away for him or anything.
“The greatest moment of my entire life was saying ‘yes’ to spending the rest of ours together,” her caption read. “This past month of being your fiancé and being in our own little world of just us two has been so perfect and I wish I could never leave this time.”
Oh, and as for the Miley and Billy Ray thing.
You can watch Miley's acceptance speech at the Grammys and notice how it didn't occur to her to thank her father, who also just happens to be in the music business. But she did thank her mom, who was there with her.
