Kylie Jenner critics call out reality star for using $72 million private jet amid LA wildfires

The Kardashian-Jenner family is used to criticism. When a person’s life is the topic of multiple reality TV shows and they don’t shy away from flaunting their wealth on social media, it’s inevitable. But recently, critics of Kylie Jenner called her out for using her $72 million private jet amid the Los Angeles wildfires.

On January 7, 2025, wildfires broke out in LA. More than 40,000 acres have burned and tens of thousands of residents have been displaced, and at least 28 people died, according to Cal Fire. Although many celebrities have volunteered or donated, Kylie’s recent contribution was met with a curious level of disdain.

Kylie recently announced donations to help wildfire victims.

On January 17, Kylie shared on her Kylie Cosmetics Instagram account that the company was “truly heartbroken to see the devastation caused by the fires in Los Angeles.” The company pledged to donate “skincare, body, hair, and makeup products” to a “number of organizations who are helping the relief efforts.”

In the post, Kylie Cosmetics concluded, “Our thoughts, love, and prayers are with you as you find your way forward, and we pray that you can regain a sense of comfort and hope.”

In the comments, followers slammed Kylie Jenner for using her private jet as the LA fires raged on.

Interestingly, many Instagram users criticized Kylie in the comments of her donation announcement—and they did so by targeting her private jet use.

One person wrote: “Please stop flying private – you are destroying the environment and the world for your children! #climatechange.”

Another Instagram user commented, per the Daily Mail, “Taking a private jet to Paris, which contributes to the warmer weather and wild fires in LA, and we know you do this many times a year, and then put a bandaid on middle class LA fire victims with your lotion, is horrific.”

“F— this entire family for real,” one X user wrote in response to a post about Kylie’s private jet use.

Her private jet reportedly made 11 flights between January 1 and when she posted.

According to CelebrityJets, Kylie’s private jet made its 11th flight of 2025 before she posted about donating to wildfire victims. (It made two more flights on January 19.) Those 11 flights translated to 162 tons of CO2 emissions, contributing to the climate change crisis. Among her trips was a flight that only lasted 15 minutes. For another, she jetted to London to support her boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet, at the premiere of his new film A Complete Unknown.

Others pointed out that beauty products weren’t a necessity.

Jet usage and climate change aside, other critics slammed Kylie for donating beauty products to wildfire victims.

“Because make up is a necessity at this time? 👏🏻,” one Instagram user questioned, while another snarked, “lol sorry your house burnt down here’s some lotion.”

Someone else pointed out, “Kylie sweetie this is insanely tone deaf.”

Meanwhile, a different IG user wondered, “Why not focus on helping by donating actual necessities like [deodorant], feminine [hygiene], baby care, etc things that actually make a difference??”

Still, others defended Kylie.

Not everyone is on the Kylie bashing train, as plenty of her followers defended her act of generosity.

One wrote: “Why is nobody reading????? it literally says donating to organizations AND donating the products, if you lose everything obviously you will need anything the people is donating wtf is wrong with ya’ll.”

Another Instagram user shared: “The company is helping children & cruel people still find a way…. I guarantee the teenagers will be happy to receive these donations. Right now – anything helps, especially kindness.”

Meanwhile, yet another follower commented: “Crazy how everyone mad at what she’s donating she’s still doing something, …. You’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t …. I’m sure them families are grateful for whatever they receive they have to start all over……. Thank you Kylie.”
