Last year, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s eldest child, North West, was asked to perform at Disney’s The Lion King 30th Anniversary—A Live-to-Film Concert Event at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl. The performances took place on May 24 to 25, 2024. North did her thing, some praised her, while others did the whole troll-with-access-to-the-internet thing. Then we all moved on. That is until the airing of the February 20, 2025, episodes of The Kardashians on Hulu where we got to see what happened behind the scenes and the two choice words that Kim had for anyone hating on North’s performance.

Listen, Kim might not be relatable in many ways, but when it comes to defending North against negative comments directed at what was the child’s singing debut, the reality star could not have been more relatable. Basically, Kim told North’s haters to eff off, but she didn’t mince words like I am. She very directly said, “[Expletive] you.” PRO TIP: Fill in the expletive part with a four-letter word that starts with f and rhymes with duck.
This is how it all went down.
When Kim received the invite for North to sing “I Can’t Wait to Be King” as part of the Hollywood Bowl performance for the anniversary of The Lion King, she was both excited and terrified for her daughter. Excited because North loves to perform and it’s a big friggin’ deal to perform anything at the Hollywood Bowl. Terrified because she knew from experience that haters would hate on North.
“I already know what’s coming,” Kim said as she looked into the camera during the season six episode of The Kardashians documenting the experience. “That she’s not Whitney Houston. Duh!”

Kim also anticipated the chorus of “nepo baby” that would erupt. To those people she said, “North is the moment. They want to see North West on a TikTok, on a this, on a anything, because she’s a personality, a performer.”
“And if anyone wants to hate on a child that is having the time of their lives, [expletive] you!” Kim said. For reals, though. North was 10 years old at the time of the performance. Why would anyone want to hate on a 10-year-old?

Also, let’s put it in context. North is not a Broadway musical star. She has performed before on stage as a rapper. This was her singing debut. She was asked to sing one song as part of a larger tribute. She practiced and gave it her all. Can we let a child be a child regardless of who that child’s parents are?
In the end, Kim could not have been prouder of North.
Both Kim and Ye, who was also there to support North, were proud of their daughter’s commitment, enthusiasm, courage, and performance. North worked hard, did a great job, and remained calm under pressure.
I hope that what North takes away from the experience is that no matter what strangers have to say about her, she always has the deep and loving support of her family.
