In May, rumors of relationship issues between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck started swirling online. Reports of their rocky marriage soon devolved into rumblings that a divorce was imminent. However, recent insider knowledge suggests that Bennifer is giving their romance "one last go" before throwing in the towel for good.
More from MamásLatinas: Jennifer Lopez was as surprised as all of us when she got back together with Ben Affleck
Initially, Jen and Ben dated and got engaged in 2002. They called off their wedding in 2004 but reconnected nearly two decades later. In 2021, J.Lo and Ben started dating again and in July 2022, they tied the knot. Things haven't been looking great for the couple just two years into their marriage.
They reportedly took time apart to figure out 'what it is they want.'
On July 23, an "insider" offered an update on Bennifer.
"Jen and Ben agreed it is best to take some time apart so they can really figure out what it is that they want," the source told the Daily Mail. "They were ready to throw in the towel. Divorce papers are done and ready to be filed."
Now, Jen and Ben are reportedly giving it 'one last go.'
There is reportedly still hope that Ben and Jen might work things out.
"But they wanted to give it one last go before walking away from this and are going back to the beginning by writing each other letters," the insider told the news outlet. "This is what made them fall in love in the first place."
Bennifer's last-ditch effort to save their marriage comes on the heels of J.Lo celebrating her birthday without Ben.
On July 20, Jennifer hosted a Bridgerton-themed party in honor of her 55th birthday. Her mother, Guadalupe Rodríguez, and many others were photographed arriving for the event dressed in Regency-style clothing, E! Online reported. However, Ben was nowhere to be found.
The following day, Ben skipped her birthday lunch, too.
Ben was also noticeably absent from Jennifer's birthday lunch on July 21. Jennifer hosted the meal at Arthur & Sons in the Hamptons, New York, with her manager, Benny Medina, sister, Lynda, and twins, Max and Emme by her side, per Page Six. Meanwhile, Ben was spotted running errands in Los Angeles during his wife's birthday weekend at the Hamptons.
Bennifer didn't spend their anniversary together, either.
J.Lo and Ben's second wedding anniversary came and went on July 16 without the couple publicly spending time together. That day, Jen was photographed enjoying a bike ride in the Hamptons, per People. Ben, on the other hand, was caught by paparazzi entering his Los Angeles office.
Listing their $60 million mansion is another sign things are still heading for divorce.
Yet another sign that things may be beyond repair for Jen and Ben's marriage is their living situation. They publicly listed their Beverly Hills mansion on July 11 after failing to sell it off-market. Previously, Ben moved his belongings out of the home while J.Lo vacationed in Europe in June.
