This might just be the first time in a long time that we are all sharing in on a global experience, and for a lot of us, our lives are eerily similar these days. Most of us are currently socially isolating or distancing in order to keep ourselves and our loved ones healthy. That means that for the most part, unless you are an essential worker, you are spending most if not all of your time inside your house.
Our routines have changed drastically, especially for those who were used to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Eating clean and working out is easier to do when it's part of your day-to-day activities. Now that gyms are closed and we're in close proximity to our kitchens all day, it's so much more difficult to stay disciplined.
More from MamásLatinas: Work-from-home memes that are hilariously accurate
Being able to have a home where we can be safe and protected is a blessing, and it shouldn't be taken lightly. Having a fridge full of food and cabinets full of snacks is a privilege that not everyone has, and we should be grateful for that. But that doesn't mean that we should be eating a bowl of ice cream every 30 minutes or Doritos every chance we get!
Speaking from personal experience, snacks are my weakness, so seeing memes all over social media of people who are experiencing the same struggles makes me feel a little less alone. Now that the stay-at-home orders have been extended in many regions across the country, it might be safe to say that there's really no need to work on our summer bodies because we might be spending the summer inside. Scroll through to see some of the best snacking memes we've seen so far!
The kitchen is all of a sudden your favorite room in the house.
By now, you're probably used to seeing members of your family (or yourself) sneaking into your kitchen at different points throughout the day for yet another snack. One snack just doesn't seem like enough these days, and perhaps we're not eating out of hunger–it may be just boredom.
Fitting into our regular clothes is going to be difficult.
Once we get to dress up again and head to work, we are going to realize the true results of our poor decision making these past couple of months. Will our clothes fit like they used to, or will they be a little on the snug side? We'll find out then!
Summer bodies might just be a thing of the past.
Public pools and beaches in states like New York have been closed for the summer, so there's no real need to stay in shape, right? Staying active and healthy is key during these times, but if we're not wearing bikinis, there's no need to impress.
After all these snacks, we're going to have to rely on our charm.
A lot of people use their killer bodies to appear more appealing to others. Unless they are working out at home and staying disciplined with their snacking, we are all going to have to rely on our personalities a little more than usual.
Our fridges are seeing our faces a lot these days.
Our fridges are full of food–more than usual for a lot of people–so taking a peek in there every now and then is pretty normal and expected. We aren't all used to spending this much time at home, and sometimes cooking and eating are the best way to decompress.
The gyms are going to be packed when this is all over.
People are going to be flooding the gyms if the stay-at-home orders are lifted prior to summer starting. We have to undo all the damage we did these past few months with multiple trips to the kitchen every single day.
Some people started this lockdown with lots of energy.
Some people seemed optimistic about all the time they would have to work on their bodies and get in shape since they would be at home. For some, that motivation quickly dwindled as the weeks passed, and getting in shape quickly flew out the window.
A little snacking never hurt.
This groundhog perfectly depicts how a lot of us are dealing with this lockdown. It's a stressful time, and some people are emotional eaters. Somehow, a nice slice of pizza seems like the more calming thing we could eat at the moment.
Pacing ourselves is the toughest part.
I'm currently thinking of the Oreos and the potato chips that are in my pantry right now, and it's so hard to resist the urge to eat them all in one sitting. Self-control is key in these situations, so slow down and have your snacks little by little.
Our families are worried about us.
If you're lucky, you have probably heard from friends and loved ones who are worried about your well-being. They want to make sure you're OK, but what we really wish is that someone would step in and stop us from enjoying so many snacky snacks throughout the day.
Our food budget is all of a sudden astronomical.
We might be saving on going out to eat or going to the movies or buying clothes, but how in the world are groceries all of a sudden so expensive? Now that we have to eat every single meal at home, including plenty of snacks, my bank account has never seen me spend so much on groceries in a month.
Some of us are going to try to get some last-minute results.
We might have to go a little harder than usual to burn all the calories we have consumed while on lockdown. Some of us have taken up baking as a hobby, but all that bread adds up. How many push-ups will it take to undo the mistakes we've made?
We can deal with a toilet paper shortage, but a lack of snacks?!
Imagine going to the supermarket and finding that the ice cream section of the freezer is empty? That is hurtful! How else are we supposed to get through this stressful time without the little things in life that bring us joy?
We have to accept that gyms are closed.
Gyms were among some of the first businesses that had to shut down to limit people from being in close contact with one another. That means that everyone who had been diligently hitting the weights all winter had to face the harsh reality that their dreams of a perfect summer body might have come to an end.
Some people were already prepared for this.
Is it better to have loved and lost or never to have loved at all? Some people are truly not bothered by the closing of gyms because they weren't going anyway! Smart thinking.
Opening the fridge has become a hobby.
The fridge is probably so sick of being opened all day long. This has to count as some sort of arm workout! I've opened up the fridge so many times hoping to find some food in there that I didn't cook myself, but I've had no luck.
What's the point?
Should we even be joining in on all these video workouts? Should we even be limiting ourselves to eating just salads, or should we indulge? What's the point of holding back if we might just not have a summer at all?
We must be smart about our portion controls.
Listen, just because they are there, it doesn't mean they all have to be eaten in one sitting! Make sure to ration your snack portions so that they can last you for weeks on end. You don't want to be caught one day with no snacks to help you pass the time.
Walking back to the kitchen has become a sport.
How many trips to the kitchen is too many on any given day? We might not be running on the treadmill at the gym these days, but all those steps we're taking on our way to the kitchen to grab some food have to count for something, right?
You know what's comforting? Carbs!
Right now, officials are advising that people stay 6 feet apart from one another, so a lot of us are missing hugs and personal connections with our loved ones. The next best thing is a snack–which is not as comforting as a hug from our moms, but it will have to do for now.
It's always a good time for snacks.
It seems like every other hour my body is craving something sweet or something to snack on. Every day revolves around deciding what to cook or what to eat next, and all the days are now starting to blur together.
It's hard to not eat all the snacks at once.
Most people have been buying groceries in bulk to limit the amount of grocery trips they have to make during this time to keep themselves and others safe. That means that you know that you can head over to your pantry and find your favorite snacks at any given moment. And that is so hard to resist.
Some people had a gut feeling about this.
Some people didn't even bother working on trying to get fit, because they somehow knew something was going to prevent us from enjoying the summer. Sometimes being a visionary has its perks.
A surplus of snacks plus no gym is a recipe for disaster.
If your main concern right now is gaining weight, you are already more fortunate than most people during this time, so count your blessings. Sure, not being able to go to the gym is tough, but that doesn't mean you can't get your sweat on at home so that you don't have to feel guilty for enjoying some treats.
Use this time to work on your sense of humor.
Abs might be out of the question after all this food we're consuming while at home, so you're going to need a little more than a fit body after this. Work on your personality, your sense of humor, and other aspects of yourself that haven't been put on hold like your six-pack.
You don't need anyone policing your fridge trips.
We can't imagine a bigger form of betrayal than a partner regulating or keeping count of how many trips we have taken to the fridge. Mind your own business, please! We all deal with stress in different ways.
Some of us have tried to be better.
Making smart decisions at the grocery store by choosing fruits and veggies over salty, savory snacks is key. But sometimes taking that trip and then getting home just to regret those good decisions hurts! Sometimes a little popcorn is all our bodies need to keep going.
No summer? No problem!
Some people see no issue with skipping summer altogether. This person sees no problem with spending the next few months indoors and wearing pajamas. You don't have to get prepared for something that's not happening, right?
Every day we wake up more hopeful than the last.
Every morning I wake up with all the right attitude to eat better and to work out a little more than I did before. Somewhere throughout the day, I lose that motivation and just reach over and eat some cookies. What else is girl to do in times of a crisis aside from living in the moment?
Pajamas and the fridge are our new best friends.
Name a better duo than watching some movies or TV shows while wearing some comfortable pajamas and eating a warm bowl of noodles or our favorite snacks? The simple pleasures in life shouldn't be taken for granted.
There are no breaks when it comes to eating snacks.
Any time is a good time for snacks, even if you are on an important video call. We don't recommend eating anything crunchy if your microphone is on. No one likes to hear anyone chew.
