Chiquis Rivera will be the first to admit that she hasn't had an easy life. She was sexually abused by her biological dad when she was little, her mom died in 2012, and the haters have been harsh–to say the least.
But Chiquis has a knack not just for picking herself up every single time, but for perservering and still living her best life despite all of it–and that is something worth admiring. Here are a few times the Mexican singer and business woman has proved she's a warrior!
She kept her family together when her mother died.
When Chiquis Rivera's mom, Jenni, died in a tragic plane crash, it took a huge toll on her. But she stayed strong, especially for her family. Chiquis was even granted custody of her younger siblings Jenicka and Johnny, who were only 15 and 11 at the time.
She stayed strong despite the awful chismes.
Rumors that Chiquis had an affair with her mother’s ex, Esteban Loaiza, circled for months, even after her mom's untimely death. In an interview with María Celeste Arrarás of Al Rojo Vivo, Chiquis bravely shut the BS rumors down in 2015. She stared the rumors in the face and didn't back down.
She forgave her abusive father.
Chiquis has opened up a few times about how her father used to sexually abuse her when she was only 8 years old. She has somehow managed to find it in her heart to forgive him and I can’t help but admire that. "He’s my dad at the end of the day. I think that something happened to him. I’m not justifying what he did. What he did wasn’t right. It’s not right. But I feel like he needed therapy or needs therapy. It makes me sad that he’s in jail," she said in an exclusive interview with Univision.
Jenni died without ever making amends with Chiquis, but Chiquis is stronger for it.
Chiquis’ mother died without them ever reconciling. Chiquis has admitted numerous times how hard it was for her to get over that pain. She was even taken out of Jenni Rivera’s will. Could you imagine?
She’s forgiven the woman that molested her.
In her book, Forgiveness, Chiquis opens up about how she was also molested by one of her mother’s female friends and it happened shortly after she was coming to terms with her dad’s sexual abuse. And yet she still chose the path of forgiveness.
She has owned her curves like a boss.
It took a while for her to get there, but Chiquis has finally hit a place where she’s been able to love and embrace her body and her curves fully. Good for her!

Chiquis has addressed her haters quite a few times on social media and always does it with grace and class.
She has pursued her singing career regardless of naysayers.
Despite everything she’s gone through, Chiquis hasn’t allowed that to get in the way of her following her dreams. Ever since she channeled her mom in a moving Premios Juventud performance, her career has completely taken off and we're super proud.
She wrote a song about being gordita.
Her single “Aprovechame” is all about self-love and embraces what makes her beautiful and unique–including her curvy body.
She recently underwent surgery like a boss.
