Nearly a week ago Jennifer Lopez posted a heartfelt Instagram video revealing that she had not heard from family members in Puerto Rico since Hurricane Maria devastated the island. Today, she knows they're safe.
Last night–six days later–she shared a video from her missing tio and titi, whom she had finally tracked down, and it is the sweetest thing ever!
All of us who have roots on the island are hurting right now. Many of us are still waiting for word from family members we haven't been able to reach and struggling to find ways to help.
In this difficult time, Jennifer is just like the rest of us and her family's story of survival and hope is absolutely uplifting. My heart aches for the island of my people, and every story of safety and every bit of good news is so encouraging.

JLo did not slow down her efforts to find her family. She didn't give up and she succeeded. We may not all have the resources that she does, so making contact may take longer, but we'll get there.
Despite how much time has passed, we should all remember that there is hope, that the vast majority of us will find our family members safe and sound, and that our help is needed now and will continue to be needed for many months.
In the meantime, let us all be encouaged by JLo's adorable titi and tio and how full of hope, despite having been though one of the worst natural disasters their home has ever seen.
