This woman actually thanked her dad for molesting her

There are people who go through things so horrifying I can hardly stand to think of them and somehow they manage to take all that hurt and pain and use it to mold them into a person who helps other people. It really is an amazing thing to do. When I heard that Flora Jessop, a former member of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints, actually walked up to her father and thanked him for molesting her as a child, I thought surely the woman was insane, but she's not. What she is, is inspiring. I found her reason or reasoning for thanking her father empowering and I think you may too.

In an interview with HuffPo Live in which Jessop and Brandon Jeffs, also a former FLDS member and nephew of the infamous "prophet" Warren Jeffs, were discussing their TLC show, Escaping the Prophet, Jessop said: "A few years ago I walked up to my dad and thanked him for molesting me. I didn't thank him because I enjoyed it. I thanked him because I look back on everything I've been through, and I decided that I was going to wrap it around me and embrace every memory, every act, all of it, and build myself out of those ashes." OMG!

She found a way to turn all the shame she had and use it as a way to understand and fight for children presently going through what's she's been through. She is fighting to help others escape. She says the memories she has have created the "fighter" in her.

I'm amazed by her, I truly am. She found a way to strip the son of a bitch who abused her of his power. She let go of the shame and put it all on him. "It's not me who owns that sin," she said. She is ABSOLUTELY right.

Do you see what I mean? She somehow managed to take something so horrifyingly awful, abusive, and degrading and use it to help others, use it to become a better person.
