Just so you get an idea of the amount of money that is just waiting to be claimed, there is about $41.7 billion dollars just waiting to be claimed in all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as in Quebec, British Columbia and Alberta in Canada.
How do you find out if some of that unclaimed money is yours? Easy, you can go to www.unclaimed.org, which is the website of the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators and search there by location for money you may be owed or you can also go to www.missingmoney.org, which lets you search the databases of all participating states and provinces at once.
Where is this money coming from, well it could be from an overpaid bill or a bank account that was never closed, but forgotten about. Who knows? Check it out and see if you have any money coming to you!
