Cop sees boy playing football alone & does the UNTHINKABLE

Sergeant Ariel Solutra of the Rosenberg Police Department in Texas was on patrol on Saturday afternoon, when he spotted a young boy playing with a football by himself in a parking lot. Instead of ignoring him and continuing on his way, Sgt. Solutra decided to do something  … different. He pulled over and offered to play a quick game of catch.

The super sweet encounter between the officer and 10-year-old Jermaine Ford was all captured in a dash cam video that has since gone viral and garnered thousands of shares on Facebook. And when you watch the footage, you'll see why!

It's impossible not to feel that tug on your heartstrings when watching this cop take just a couple of minutes out of his busy schedule to make this kid's day. Though it seems as if Ford isn't sure what to think when he first watches the officer approach, it's soon very clear that he is happy to have the company–and all it took was a simple gesture on Sgt. Soltura's part. Isn't that amazing?!

It just goes to show it really is the little things that can make the biggest difference. In fact, according to a post uploaded to Rosenberg Police Department's Facebook page, Ford says he now wants to be either a football play OR a police officer. AWW!

As for Soltura, he hopes this video will inspire other law enforcement agencies to "police with the community," which I think is a great lesson to be learned–and not just for officers, but for everyone. Kids are already intimidated by cops and adults in general, so why not surprise them by extending a little kindness if you have the chance?
