For many families across the country, taking advantage of a store's layaway program is the only way they can afford buying Christmas gifts for their children. One such family is the Evans of Bellefontaine, Ohio. According to mom of eight Stefanie, she had just payed $20 toward her remaining layaway balance of $200 at Walmart when she heard her name over the intercom. When she got to customer service, she was convinced a mistake had been made when the rep said her account balance was zero and she could pick up her gifts.

But it wasn't a mistake. Evans was one of 100 lucky families whose layaway accounts were paid off by an anonymous man who donated a whopping $25,000. And this is not the first time it happens. Known as "Secret Santa," the man apparently donated $27,000 to help pay off the layaway balances of families last year. What an amazing act of kindness!
The secret donor, however, didn't just pay off any layaway account. The customers he helped had to have toys on their lists and had to have been paying off their account regularly. I would have loved to be present when one of the lucky families found out they had received such a generous gift from some unknown person that they can't even thank.
The best part of this sweet story, though, is that many of those helped by the anonymous donor were so grateful and surprised by his generosity that they decided to pay it forward by helping pay off other people's layaway accounts. In the end, that's what it's all about!
