After his dad died two years ago, 7-year-old Cole Holzer's prized possession became one of his father's well-worn Nike shirts. That's why the young boy was devastated when he accidentally left the shirt behind on the plane while rushing off a Delta flight with his family.
The family didn't realize what had happened until they were driving away from the airport and Holzer was heartbroken. "I started to cry a little bit," he told WDAY. After hearing the story, the airline crew was left moved and decided to take action–and I guarantee what happened next will bring tears to your eyes.
The employee who answered the phone ended up calling all over the San Diego airport looking the shirt. After Kelly Crutchet, a family friend of the Holzer's, got in touch with Delta's Lost & Found at the San Diego airport, yet another Delta staff member said she would check with the cleaning crew.

Meanwhile, Crutchet posted the story on Facebook, hoping to find someone who would meet the plane in Minneapolis and see if the shirt was still onboard. Her request was seen by a Delta pilot, who called her and said he would try to contact ground control and see if they could get in touch with the gate. A short time later, Crutchet heard word that a ramp supervisor from the airline was once again searching the rows where the Holzer family sit sitting and had even started looking through the garbage!
Between all of them, the employees eventually found Holzer's beloved shirt and the young boy and his mom returned to the airport to retrieve it.
Wow, talk about going above and beyond! It's so amazing to see that there are still good people (in this case, multiple Delta employees) out there, who will go out of their way to lend a helping hand. With just a few simple acts of kindness, they singlehandedly brought the smile back to a little boy's face and gave him a piece of his father back.
