Mom hears her 8-year-old son speak for the first time and it’s amazing (VIDEO)

Imagine living your life without hearing your children's voices because of a health condition that left you deaf? Texas mom of three, 43-year-old, Dawn Keim experienced this after losing her hearing more than 15 years ago because of a genetic condition. But she was given the chance to hear again after making an appearance on the show, The Doctors, last November through breakthrough surgery.

Before receiving the surgery, Keim admitted that her greatest fear was to hear youngest son, 8-year-old, Asher's voice, not the procedure.

That has to be one of the hardest things a parent must have to go through by not being able to hear their children. It must be difficult for Keim who has two older sons whom she probably heard speak before, but not her youngest one.Thankfully science was able to make hearing again a reality for her through a surgery performed at House Ear Institute in Los Angeles.

According to the Daily Mail, the mom received an electronic device called a cochlear implant which is meant to help a deaf person get a sense of sound. However, the catch is that the sound is not as natural as the average person's but the patient can hear music and understand spoken words.

Keim recalled being scared to hear Asher's voice—which she had never heard because she had already made up a voice for him in her head. On The Doctors, she explains that her fear came from being startled that he would sound differently than what she had pictured.

During the soon-to-be televised interview, Keim and Asher cry upon the mom finally being able to hear her youngest son speak and says, "I love you." The touching moment as she described was overwhelming and better than she expected it to be. If you'd like to see Keim's story, it will be aired this Thursday's episode of The Doctors.
