Can you think of anything more selfless than donating one of your embryos to a childless couple you've never met? I can't. But that's exactly what Jodi and Larry Dillworth did for Rachel and Diony Victorin. After Jodi's IVF treatment was successful and she gave birth to a baby girl named Bobbie, she didn't want to just throw away all her other frozen embryos. So she found an embryo adoption service and looked through the profiles of prospective parents and figured that donating her embryo to one of them was the right thing to do. When she saw that like her husband and her, the Victorins were a biracial couple she decided to reach out.
The Victorins couldn't have been happier. Rachel's IVF treatments had failed four times and there was nothing she wanted more than to become a mom. And with Jodi's donated embryo that became a reality on September of last year when she gave birth to Esther Hope.

Both couples had agreed on having an open adoption, meaning that the biological parents are allowed to have some type of contact with their child. So three months after Esther Hope was born, Jodi, Larry, and little Bobbie got to meet her for the first time. It was an emotional moment, to say the least, as Jodi and Larry wouldn't know how they would react.
But everything went well and the families decided to stay in touch regularly. So now 4-year-old Bobbie and 14-month-old Esther Hope are basically growing up as sisters, but are being raised by two different sets of parents in two different homes.
Both couples have plans of being open with their children about the circumstances of their births when they get older. And I can't help but wonder how they'll react to that information. Either way, it's undeniable that Jodi and Larry gave the Victorins an amazing gift of life!
