The final night of the Democratic National Convention was a star-studded event, with everyone from Scarlett Johansson and Kerry Washington to Marc Anthony in attendance. But perhaps the most memorable celebrity moment was when one of my favorite Latina stars__, Eva Longoria, took to the podium to deliver a truly impactful and inspiring speech__ that proved she is as sassy and sharp-witted as I always thought her to be!
In the speech, Longoria–who is a co-chair for Obama's national reelection campaign and has already spoken on behalf of the President many times–recalled life before fame. "We weren't wealthy, but we were determined to succeed," she said of her family.

Longoria also discussed taking out loans and working odd jobs at Wendy's and in a mechanic shop to pay for college. But the line that stuck with me the most–and also drew a rousing response from the audience? "The Eva Longoria who worked at Wendy's flipping burgers–she needed a tax break. But the Eva Longoria who works on movie sets does not," she said.

Amen to that! It's SO refreshing to see a celebrity actually directly acknowledge the difference in the treatment that the rich and famous receive versus the everyday man–even in something that is (supposedly) "equal" for everybody, like paying taxes! And I love that she was brave enough to tell the GOP straight up that she does not need a finance break!
Though I was already a fan, Longoria's powerful speech made me even more impressed by her and gave me (and the rest of the world) a much-needed reminder that the American Dream is still alive and well.
