Actress and singer Demi Lovato, 28, revealed a slimmer figure on Instagram on Monday, saying she's "accidentally lost weight." The "What Other People Say" singer has famously battled with disordered eating and struggled with body image and self-esteem issues throughout her career, ultimately leading to a substance abuse problem that nearly killed her in 2018.

Now she says, "I'm full of peace, serenity, joy, and love today" after years of being in eating disorder recovery and experiencing weight fluctuations. Demi's weight loss reveal comes after several days of publicly reflecting on eating disorders, body image, and beauty standards on social media, which has seemingly culminated in her inspirational, body positive message.
Demi's clothes now fit big.
Demi unveiled her "accidental" weight loss with a short Instagram video she took of herself in front of a mirror, marveling at the fact that her sweats are now quite loose on her. In the video, her waist is noticeably slimmer than in the past several months.
Her message is so positive.
"I don't count calories any more. I don't over exercise anymore. I don't restrict or purge. And I especially don't live my life accordingly to the diet culture.. and I've actually lost weight," she wrote on Instagram.
Her spirituality is strong.
"This is a different experience but I feel full not of food but of divine wisdom and cosmic guidance. Peace serenity joy and love," Demi professed on Instagram, just a couple of months after highlighting and embracing her curves and stretch marks on the same social platform.
Demi is also sharing her knowledge on eating disorders.
Just a couple of days before unveiling her slimmer figure, Demi shared an informative post on her Instagram about orthorexia in honor of Eating Disorder Awareness Week. According to the post, orthorexia "means an obsession with proper or 'healthful' eating."
She also spoke out about "unrealistic beauty expectations" this week.
Demi has apparently been quite reflective this week, also creating a post that calls out "unrealistic beauty expectations" on social media. She points out the often unattainable ideals hyper-filtered photos can create.
This is a long time coming.
Demi's body positive message carried over onto her Instagram story as well. She posted a touching graphic there of a flower blossoming into the female form with the text: "and I said to my body. softly. 'i want to be your friend.' it took a long breath. and replied, 'i have been waiting my whole life for this.'"
