1. If you want a good night's rest, it's best to leave any gadgets outside of the bedroom. Not only will information overload keep your mind whirring when it should be winding down for the night, but the light emitted from devices with LED screens will trick your body into thinking it's daytime. In order to fall into its natural circadian rhythm and fall asleep easily at night, your body needs to produce melatonin, a hormone that can be inhibited by the glow given off by your entertaining gadgets. Turning off all screens at least an hour before bedtime will send the signal that it's almost time to call it a day.
2. Likewise, tuning in as soon as you wake up every morning could drag out the time it takes you to get ready and out the door on time.
3. Sleeping with your phone can also make it hard to relax because your mind is on alert just waiting for a call or message to startle you awake.
4. When you happen to wake up in the middle of the night, it could be your habit to reach over to your nightstand and see if any new messages came in. Doing this will only make it more difficult to go right back to sleep.
5. Your bedroom should be a haven for only two things: sleep and sex. Letting gadgets into your bedroom will negatively affect one or both. How many times haven't you woken up next to your partner only to have him browsing the Internet on his phone or answer work emails instead of cuddling with you? And I'm sure you've been just as guilty of doing the same from time to time. Take your time in the bedroom to be intimate, connect with each other, and engage in some pillow talk.
6. Sleeping with a mobile phone could become a fire hazard if you tuck it under your pillow. The device could overheat and cause a spark, leading to serious injuries while you're dozing. A teen inadvertently set her bed on fire after the battery in her Samsung Galaxy phone went aflame. Talk about a close call!
