12 Celebrities who have survived breast cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and as women and mothers, we are joining the cause and supporting the amazing women that are currently battling the disease. Breast cancer is rampant among women and it doesn't discriminate against age, race or social status. It's estimated that one in eight women worldwide will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

In the United States alone, more than two hundred thousand women receive the bad news every year and forty thousand of those die. As women we are all in this fight together and we need to take a stand against the disease. These celebs fought hard and inspired many other women. She is the host of Good Morning America and mother of seven beautiful grown children. Joan was diagnosed with a triple negative breast cancer and its very aggressive. She is undergoing treatment and it looks like she is winning.

Adamari Lopez

Beloved by all, the beautiful actress received the news in 2005 and started the fight. She underwent chemotherapy, a double mastectomy and breast reconstruction. Considered a survivor, she is happy and expecting her first child.

Giuliana Rancic

Host of E! News, Giuliana was diagnosed in 2011 just before getting a second round of IVF in order to have children. Her tumor was discovered early and she underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. She welcomed her baby in 2013 through a surrogate and she is happy on E!

Alejandra Guzmán

The Mexican rockera was diagnosed in 2007 after going for a regular checkup. The doctor discovered a cancerous tumor in her breast and she was successfully operated months later. She is a survivor and continues making music. She is currently touring Mexico with her sold out “La Gusman en Primera Fila Tour”.

Acclaimed actress from the hit TV series the "Sopranos" and "Nurse Jackie" was diagnosed with the disease in 2003. She fought hard and survived breast cancer. She is now raising her two adopted children and making us laugh and cry on the silver screen.

Lorena Rojas

The Mexican actress received the first diagnosis in 2008 and she had a mastectomy to remove the tumor. Unfortunately couple years later the cancer came back and now she is still battling the disease but doing better every day. She is raising her daughter and is preparing her wedding.

The Today Show host was diagnosed in 2007. She underwent a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery and today she is happy, healthy and cancer free. She is still hosting the morning show gracing us with her presence and charismatic personality.

Biracial actress part Mexican part Uruguayan was diagnosed with the disease when she was 29 years old. She underwent treatment and is a cancer survivor. She travels throughout Latin America inspiring others and raising awareness about the disease.

The Mexican singer was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. Famous for her incredibly long hair, Romo expressed that she was afraid of shaving it. The brave singer did it and she looked beautiful. She is a survivor and she is still inspiring her fans with her music and art.
