Wawona Packing Company has recalled lots of whole peaches, nectarines, plums, and pluots that were packed between June 1, 2014 and July 12, 2014. The company sells to supermarkets and wholesale resellers like Trader Joe's, Sam's Club, BJ's Wholesale Club, Costco, and other retailers. If you or someone in your family has shopped for fresh fruits at any of these popular shops, take a close look at the batch that was brought home. Even healthy individuals can suffer from a Listeria infection with symptoms that include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
It's frightening to think that you could be following your doctor's orders to eat fresh fruits and veggies to stay healthy and then this HUGE risk comes along that could harm you and your baby. According to Wawona, no illnesses have been linked to the contamination and they've taken precautions by recalling all lots that could be infected, sanitizing equipment at their facilities and ensuring that subsequent tests for Listeria have been negative.
