SEE: Woman drops more than HALF her body weight with this super simple trick

Like many obese people, Jennifer Smith had tried each and every diet out there to try to lose the excess weight without success. But at 350 pounds and severely diabetic, Smith's life had pretty much come to a halt. In the last year, Smith has gone from 350 pounds to 185 and while she still has 25 more pounds to go to reach her goal, the difference already is amazing. Just check out the before and after pictures for yourself.

So, how did she do it? Well, after she told her doctor she believed she was insulin resistant and he shocked her by saying she was actually "out-eating her insulin," she realized something had to change.

That something was understanding once and for all that food was not her enemy. Smith is convinced that up to that point her dieting had not worked because avoiding certain food groups for a while only caused her to binge on them afterwards.

With the help of the medical staff at the clinic she attends in Greenville, North Carolina, she's learned to change the way she saw food and to consume all kinds of food groups in moderation. She's also learned to understand what and why she's eating and the kinds of foods that make here feel bad. In other words, she's in control of the situation.

And that's not all: Smith has also become a runner and this summer she participated in her first 8K. Amazingly, the woman who once had a hard time walking, is now training for her first half marathon. We wish her the best of luck!
