I'm not by any means surprised by this study that found that women cope better with stress than men. Seriously, are you? The difference now is that scientists can finally tell us WHY. It basically all boils down to something us women have that men don't, that allows us to deal with the daily pressures and frustrations of life easier than them. This only confirms my theory that women are the better and stronger gender!

Apparently women deal with stress better than men because of estrogen. Scientist found that estrogen works to block any negative stress that effects the brain. One U.S. study put male and female rats through tasks that lead to feeling of frustrations and being under pressure, and the female rats struggled a lot less. It also revealed that men seem to suffer more with short-term memory. Go figure.
Honestly, I've always said that men don't handle stress well. I can't even begin to tell you the insane amount of obstacles I've seen the women in my family endure and quickly overcome. I'm talking divorce, being cheated on, sickness, and even losing their children to terminal illnesses. And while a lot of the men in my family have experienced similar struggles, a majority of them easily break down whenever there are signs of stress. Even a little cold to them feels like they're dying. Mind you, a multi-tasking Latina mom can take care of the kids, work, and deal with a family crisis with a 100 degree fever. Believe me, I've seen it done. You see what I'm saying?
Scientist found that by exposing men to greater levels of estrogen they can cope with stress better. "If we could find compounds similar to estrogen that could be administered without causing hormonal side effects, they could prove to be a very effective treatment for stress-related problems in males," Dr. Zen Yan, a study leader told the Daily Mail. Well they need to get on that ASAP because a world filled with men that can deal with stress as well as women would be a much more functional world. Heck I'd bet it would lead to a lot less breakups and divorces as well!
